The sight of a cruiser style bike with a wicker bike basket makes me smile.  Especially if it has a baguette sticking out of it – that just seems too perfect.   There’s nothing more relaxing than taking a bike ride into the coutryside knowing you have a picnic lunch awaiting you, once you find the perfect spot. A lookout of some sorts, over a river, stream, lager waterfront, or maybe amonst some trees.

Although you would have many options to carry your picnic, a wicker bike basket is perfect if you want a quit and easy method of carrying things with you on your bike.  You can stuff large items in there without worrying about closing it, which makes it perfect for a trip to the grocery store or market (to pick up a baguette, of course).

Wicker baskets come in many styles and sizes, so there is sure to be one to fit your needs.  They also come in a variety of colours, from natural wood colours of light and deep dark brown, to a painted white wicker basket, or perhaps a black wicker basket.  For increased longevity, you could look for one with varnished or glazed, or find the right kind of glaze and do it yourself.

Another benefit of using a wicker basket for your bike basket is their ability to be used in many other ways.  You can carry your basket through the market and place your purchases in it as you shop, or bring it with you to your picnic spot. Having another type bike basket or pannier may not permit these additional uses – as some are difficult to remove from the bike, or just don’t quite look right stuffing your fresh market vegetables into.
